Top Five Friday: Couples

So it’s Friday, which means its another Top Five Friday! I hope you all enjoyed last weeks look at my top five children’s books. This week is all about my Top Five Book Couples. These aren’t my OTP’s, these are genuine couples that have been put together in books I have read. Enjoy!

5) Katniss Everdeen & Peeta Mellark: The Hunger Games Trilogy

I love Katniss and Peeta and have done ever since I read the first book in the trilogy. I never really understood Katniss and Gale and I always knew that she’d end up with Peeta. I know at first they were just faking a romance to get sponsors and for publicity, but further down the line you realised that they did truly care for each other. Despite her doubts, you could tell Katniss knew where her heart lay. They are proof that love can survive anything.

4) Sam Roth & Grace Brisbane: The Wolves of Mercy Falls Trilogy

I love this series and I loved Sam and Grace as a couple from the get go. The fact that they have known each other ever since Sam saved her as child just adds to it. It’s almost as if they were destined to be together. I adored reading about their relationship blossoming and throughout the series I was genuinely rooting for them to stay together. I love how Sam would do anything to protect Grace, and vice versa. It is a sign of true love and I am so glad they got their happy ending.

3) Cath Avery & Levi Stewart: Fangirl

Cath and Levi – what a sweet couple! Yes their relationship was a very slow burner and at times you questioned if they’d even get together. However, when they finally do you feel an overwhelming sense of joy. I love how Cath helped Levi when he was struggling with his assignments and I enjoyed seeing how Levi helped pull Cath out of her shell slightly. They had some rocky moments throughout the book, but in the end they realised their true feelings for one another.

2) Ron Weasley & Hermione Granger: The Harry Potter Series

They say opposites attract and this was definitely the case with Ron and Hermione. From the first book you have an inkling that these two will end up together and for the first few books it is a slow burner. At times you just want to shout ‘get together already!’. In the Goblet of Fire we start to discover how they feel about each other and it is finally confirmed in the Deathly Hallows when they finally kiss! You can hear everyone in the fandom shouting ‘well it’s about time’. I love these two as a couple as Hermione keeps Ron grounded, whereas Ron encourages Hermione to break the rules at times and be a little bit reckless. It’s the best of both worlds.

1) Hazel Grace Lancaster & Augustus Waters: The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars is one of my favourite books of all time and Hazel and Augustus are my number one favourite book couple. Yes their love story is short and tragic in the end, but they go to show that making every minute count is what it’s all about. From the moment they first met at the support group you could see a spark and I loved seeing that spark grow, it melted my heart, literally. I loved Augustus’ lease of life and I loved seeing Hazel slowly fall in love with him. When they finally kissed at the Anne Frank House my heart burst with pride and joy. They only had a short while together, but that was all they needed.

So there are my top five book couples! Stay tuned for next week’s countdown!
