Always with Love by Giovanna Fletcher
Published by Penguin UK 2016 (Paperback)
400 Pages

The next much-anticipated romantic chapter in Billy and Sophie’s love story from bestselling author Giovanna Fletcher.

Sophie’s got used to being the girlfriend of Billy Buskin, the biggest movie star in the world. Sort of.

But when she and Billy take a trip to visit his family in Los Angeles, she quickly discovers she’s totally unprepared for the chaos of Hollywood, the paparazzi and Billy’s controlling mother.

And when Billy extends his stay in LA, leaving Sophie to fly home to Rosefont Hill alone, it seems there’s more than just miles between them.

Now Sophie must decide if they can overcome their differences for good. Because not every love story lasts the distance .

Giovanna Fletcher is honestly one of my favourite people. I watch all her vlogs, follow her busy life via twitter and of course I have read all of her previously published novels. As soon as I found out she was writing another novel,I pre ordered straight away! I was even more pleased that it was a sequel to Billy and Me which was my favourite book of hers. I luckily got the book a few days early and obviously I delved straight in.

Always with Love kicks off just after the end of Christmas with Billy and Me (the novella that Gi released a few years ago. Go read it if you haven’t. Its amazing!). Sophie May and her movie star boyfriend Billy Buskin are off to visit his family in LA. Once there Sophie soon realises how unprepared she is with dealing with Hollywood, the paparazzi and Billy’s mother, especially. When Billy, who was meant to be on a hiatus from acting, takes on a role in a said to be ‘movie of the year’ Sophie is left to go back to her home of Rosefont Hill alone. We go on a journey with both Sophie and Billy as they try to keep their love going despite the distance and the differences that threaten to come between them.

I loved going back into Sophie and Billy’s world. I think I’d missed them like they were long lost friends. I also really enjoyed being back in Rosefont Hill and reading about all the residents again. It made me wish that I lived in a close knit community like that. Sometimes it actually did feel like I was a resident, as I found out so much more about the residents which I didn’t know when I read Billy and Me. I found this to be endearing and it made me want to not stop reading.

I think Giovanna covered the topic of relationships really well within this novel. I felt like when writing she didn’t have rose tinted glasses on and was honest and true. Relationships can be testing at times, and when there’s distance involved it can cause lots of problems and difficulty. I think this was covered really well and added some realism into the story. Although I thought Billy to be a bit of an arse at times within the story, I still found his and Sophie’s relationship to be as adorable as I did when I read Billy and Me. I found it so sweet when they were writing love letters to each other! It was something that I wasn’t expecting to pop up, but it added more romance to a novel that was already full of it. It literally pulled on my heartstrings and I found myself welling up a few times.

I enjoyed reading about new characters as well as old ones within the book. I loved being taken to LA and meeting Billy’s family and I think I may have fell in love with Lauren, his sister. I found her character to be so full of energy and love and her blossoming relationship with Sophie was so cute! I think Lauren saw Sophie as a sister figure and I think that relationship gave Lauren the urge to fly the nest as it was. It was really a lovely thing to read about. I feel that as well as love, family and friendship popped up within the book a lot, which added to the feel of it.

All in all, I LOVED Always with Love. I found it to be such a heartwarming read that touched my heart and my emotions. I enjoyed delving back into the world of Billy, Sophie and all their family and friends. I also don’t think this is the last we have seen of them. Fingers crossed they’ll be back! Well that is what I’m hoping for anyway.
