As some of may know I am a little bit obsessed with Disney. I don’t think there’s anything about it that I don’t love. It’s been a big part of life since a young age and I think I am more in love with it now than I was back then.
One thing I love about Disney is their ability to create villains that we love to hate. I have many of time found myself wanting to like certain Disney villains even though I know in my heart they shouldn’t be liked. One thing that draws us into them, I think are the songs that get stuck in our heads. So that’s why I am going to share with you a few of my favourite Disney Villain songs. These are based on my own opinion and I’d love to know what yours are, so leave comments if you want!
Savages – Pocahontas
This song just gives me the chills whenever I hear it! You can hear the pure hatred between both groups and I think it is quite dark for a Disney movie. However, the message that you get from it is a pretty powerful one.
Mother Knows Best – Tangled
This is where we find out just how manipulating and just pretty damn horrible Mother Gothel is. She just lowers Rapunzel’s confidence in this song and uses her ways to get her to do what she wants. However, it is pretty catchy.
Poor Unfortunate Souls – The Little Mermaid
Oh Ursula. Despite how much you want to hate her, with this song you just can’t! She is so sassy and up front and knows what she wants. The way she manipulates Ariel into signing her deal is pure gold. Is it also bad that I can sing this all the way through? Even doing the speaking parts? Probably but oh well.
Gaston – Beauty and the Beast
Gaston is probably the most self absorbed vainest Disney villain out there and this song certainly proves that. This song is catchy and you will find yourself humming it all day. Also Beauty and the Beast is in my top favourite Disney movies so this had to be on the list!
My Lullaby – The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride
The Lion King 2 has a pretty poor repuation, but in my opinion its a great sequel! My Lullaby is rather dark and some parts of it are rather gruesome. Zira is full of hatred for Simba and his pride and this really does show.
Oogie Boogies Song – The Nightmare Before Christmas
If you haven’t watched The Nightmare Before Christmas at least once then you haven’t lived! Putting that aside Oogie Boogies Song is one of my favourites from the film. It’s catchy, it’s awesome and it makes you love Oogie Boogie even though you shouldn’t!
Cruella De Vil – One Hundred and One Dalmatians
You can’t listen to this song and not sing along! It gives us a perfect idea of who Cruella is and what she is like. Also the tune stays in your head all day and you can’t help but hum it.
Be Prepared – The Lion King
Be Prepared is my all time favourite Disney villain song. Its chilling, its dark, its spine tingling and shows you how evil Scar really is. It gives a sort of Nazi like feeling with the hyenas marching and Scar standing above them. The Lion King is one of my favourite Disney movies and its partly down to this song.
