May Wrap Up

May is over! Summer is creeping up and I, for one can’t wait to start reading in my garden in the sun. It’s going to be pure bliss. Anyway, May was an okay month for reading for me. I did have a slump towards the middle of the month but I still managed to read seven books. I am also still ahead with my Goodreads reading challenge so all is still good!

1. Wolf Light by Yaba Badoe

This was a DNF for me, which was a shame as I really loved the concept of it. The beginning was really confusing and I couldn’t connect to any of the characters at all. However, from what I did manage to read I did like the messages of sisterhood and protecting the planet.

2. The Girl Who Came Out Of The Woods by Emily Barr (ARC)

This was incredible! It was gripping, thrilling, page turning and I was just hooked. It had me captivated from the first page and it is honestly a contender for my book of the year for 2019.

3. Summer of No Regrets by Kate Mallinder

This was such a feel good read that got me feeling all summery. It’s a perfect YA contemporary for reading in the garden on a sunny day. Overall just a cute, quick, easy read.

4. Slay by Kim Curran

I’ve had this on my bookshelf for about a year but only just managed to get around to reading it in May. It was such an awesome read! To have boybands and demons in the same book was just epic and I was so engrossed in the gripping story that I finished it in a day. I cannot wait to read Slay on Tour!

5. A Good Girls Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson

I love a good YA Mystery/Crime novel so I was incredibly excited to read this. Let me tell you this…it didn’t disappoint. It was AMAZING! I got so caught up in the mystery that I just couldn’t stop reading. The writing was gripping and the ending left me feeling so shocked I didn’t know what to do for a few days afterwards.

6. The Switch Up by Katy Cannon (ARC) 

This was another YA Contemporary that I was looking forward to reading. I loved the whole Freaky Friday-esque plotline and the settings were just beautiful. However, it did take me a while to connect with one of the main characters. A great read for summer nevertheless.

7. Where There’s A Will by Beth Corby (ARC)

Where There’s A Will was an enjoyable, feel good read all about self discovery, love and finding out who you really are. It was well paced, easy to follow and just a joy to read. Some of the characters melted my heart and I’m sure they would for you, too.
