Mid-Year Freak Out Tag

I have seen this book tag floating around on several blogs recently and because I haven’t done a tag in a while I might as well do this one. Especially seeing as I am having a mid year freak out with my reading. I have so many books on my TBR and so little time!

As always feel free to do this tag and leave your links below so I can check out your answers!

Mid-Year Freak Out Tag

1) The best book you’ve read this year?

Start off with a hard question why don’t you! Out of the 50 books I have already read this year there are a few that I would say are mindblowing. As, I can’t choose one I’ll do my top three!

– A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
– The Girl Who Came Out Of The Woods by Emily Barr
– Potkin and Stubbs by Sophie Green

2) The best sequel you’ve read this year?

I actually haven’t read a sequel to any book so far this year. Bad I know!

3) New releases you haven’t read yet but want to?

There are few!

– Meat Market by Juno Dawson
– The Paper and Hearts Society by Lucy Powrie
– Alex in Wonderland by Simon James Green
– The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
– Birthday by Meredith Russo

4) Most anticipated releases for the second half of the year?

There are so many good books being released in the next 6 months but the ones I am most excited for are –

– The Toll by Neal Shusterman
– Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
– Rose, Interrupted by Patrice Lawrence
– Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell
– The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta

5) Biggest disappointment?

I have DNF or been close to DNF a few books so far this year. The ones that I was really let down by were –

– Wolf Light by Yaba Badoe
– The Girl in Red by Christina Henry
– The Girl With Sharks Teeth by Cerrie Burnell

6) Biggest surprise?

Oh definitley The Golden Butterfly by Sharon Gosling. I haven’t read a MG book with so much magic and mystery in a long time!

7) Favourite new to you or debut author?

My favourite debuts would have to be Sophie Green and Gabriel Dylan! Potkin and Stubbs was just an incredible MG read and Whiteout..well it scared me to bits but I LOVED IT!

Favourite author who is new to me would have to be Katy Cannon. The Switch Up was the first book of hers I read and as I adored it so much I will be reading more of her work.

8) Newest fictional crush?

Can I say Nikolai from King of Scars/The Grisha Trilogy? When reading the Grisha trilogy I kinda glossed over Nikolai’s character, however, with King of Scars I discovered a new found love for him and oh boy it certainly grew throughout the book!

9) Newest favourite character?

Pip from The Umbrella Mouse. It’s unusual for me to have an animal character as one of my favourites but she just touched my heart. She was brave, inspirational and determined to do whatever she could to save her friends.

10) Book that made you cry?

The Boy at the Back of the Class. It’s topic and the beautiful writing just broke me. There’s not much else I can say really.

11) Book that made you happy?

Oh there’s a few!

– How To Rob A Bank by Tom Mitchell
– Pages & Co: Tilly and the Book Wanderers by Anna James
– Summer of No Regrets by Kate Mallinder
– The Switch Up by Katy Cannon
– Starfell: Willow Moss and the Lost Day by Dominique Valente

12) Favourite book to film adaptation?

I’ll be honest here..I haven’t seen any so far this year…

13) Favourite post you have done this year?

I’m not really sure to be honest as I am proud of every blog post I write and I can’t list them all.

14) Most beautiful book you have bought this year?

My signed copy of King of Scars. It is just gorgeous!

15) What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

– Under a Dancing Star by Laura Wood
– The Toll by Neal Shusterman
– The Paper and Hearts Society by Lucy Powrie
– Legendary by Stephanie Garber
– Slay on Tour by Kim Curran
– Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend
