Mini Review Monday #2

Its time for another Mini Review Monday! I really enjoyed writing Post #1 and I am really excited to be sharing this fortnightly series with you all!

This week I am mini reviewing two incredible books within the topic of LGBTQ+. I am loving how many books featuring this topic are being released lately, with many of them being of exceptional quality!

What LGBTQ+ books have you all read recently?

Alex in Wonderland by Simon James Green

Alex in Wonderland has to be one of my favourite books this summer by far. It was just utter perfection if I’m being honest. I love Simon James Green’s comedic style of writing and this was most definitely still present in Alex in Wonderland. I was laughing my head of from start to finish and I still find myself chuckling even now when I think about it. Yes, this book was funny but it also did touch on some important issues like coming out, friendships, first love, divorce and discovering who you really are. I am going to be recommending this book to everyone I meet and that won’t stop.

Heartstopper Vol 2 by Alice Oseman

I don’t read many graphic novels but I love the Heartstopper series! I adored Vol 1 and after waiting what seemed like forever I grabbed myself a copy of Vol 2 from my local library. Heartstopper is probably the most heartwarming books I have ever read. Everything about it just makes me go all fuzzy. Charlie and Nick are the cutest couple ever and I ship it so hard! What I also love about this series is that behind all the cuteness there are underlying topics such as coming to terms with your sexuality, how/when to come out and underlying homophobia – which in turn could help many young people which is always a great thing! I am very much looking forward to Vol 3 and seeing where Charlie and Nick go next!
