Summer is over. Children are going back to school. The weather is getting cooler. Pumpkin Spice is soon to be out. Autumn is coming.
Autumn is my favourite season and when I came across ‘The Autumn Tag’ created by the wonderful Jenniely I knew I had to do it!
1 ) Hot Chocolate – what is your comfort book?
Ohhh great first question! For me my comfort book is certainly Matilda by Roald Dahl. It was the first book that made me feel like I wasn’t weird for liking books and reading and it’s one that I go back to again and again. I will treasure it forever.
2 ) Pumpkin Carving – what is your favourite creative outlet?
I guess I’ll have to say blogging or writing? I also love adult colouring and have a few colouring books that I like to use when I am feeling stressed or upset.
3 ) Falling Leaves – changes that appear bad but you secretly love?
This was actually a hard one for me to think about! My first thought would be leaving a job. You must be leaving it as you don’t like it and better things will be coming your way. Also, a break up. Breaking up with somebody is hard but its better in the long run.
4 ) Pumpkin Spiced Latte – something you love that others seem to judge
I love anime and have been watching it for many years now. When I mention this to some people they just say ‘isn’t that for kids?’ and start laughing. Yes, Anime is a form of cartoon but it really isn’t just for children. Also, I love going to Comic Con’s and I do get a lot of stick about that from others who don’t understand.
5 ) Bonfire Night – what makes you explode with joy?
Obviously reading a good book, but I also love seeing the look on the kids faces at work when they come to talk to me about a book they have loved. Also, I’ve recently been having kids at work tell me I’m the best librarian ever and it just makes me well up. I do love my job.
6 ) Fright Night – favourite scary book or film
Ohhh! I love Whiteout by Gabriel Dylan! It’s set in a ski resort and vampire-esque creatures start praying on the group of sixth formers who are staying there. It’s very atmospheric and I just love it.
For a film, well I don’t watch many scary films but I did enjoy both IT movies.
7) Halloween candy – favourite thing to eat
If we are talking sweet things I do love a Pastel De Nata – they are little Portuguese pastries filled with custard and topped with cinnamon. They are absolutely gorgeous!
8 ) Scarves – your autumn ‘must have’ accessory
For me it’s gloves, I love them! My hands get really cold during the autumn/winter months and having a warm pair of gloves keeping them warm is pure bliss. I do also love a scarf but gloves always come first!
9 ) Fire – a book or film that burns your soul
It has to be Arc of a Scythe Series by Neal Shusterman! Everything about it is just incredible and I can’t get enough of it. Honestly, it is one of the best series I have read and ahhh it’s so so good!
10 ) Toffee apples – a book or film that seems one thing but really has a different inside
Hmmmm I’d have to say Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalo. At first you think it’s just going to be your typical historical crime novel but it’s so much more than that! You have a slow burning romance, a feisty female fighting for her right to study forensics and a really interesting take on a legendary historical event. It’s just fabulous.
