Extract

She made her way between the buzzing tables in the café and headed outside, aiming for the stairs down to the concourse. But as she hurried around the corner outside the Crafty Cuppa, she smacked headlong into a solid chest, and felt two strong hands grip her shoulders to steady her. ‘Thank—’ She cut herself off as she pushed her long box braids out of her eyes – eyes which travelled up to meet those of the stranger who’d prevented her collapse. They were hazel; crinkled in mirth at the corners, and set in a supposedly handsome face. ‘Oh.’ Not a stranger after all. Caspar Johnson grinned his typical, irritating grin down at her. ‘You’re welcome,’ he said cockily, letting go of her to bend down and pick up his wallet from the ground, where it had fallen during their collision. He dusted it off pointedly. ‘Karl’s new cash-only policy means some pretty tedious trips to the cash point, right?’ Angel fought the urge to roll her eyes again. She wasn’t looking for an explanation as to what Caspar was up to, and she also wasn’t looking to chat.

Synopsis

All I want for Christmas is . . . you! A festive clean teen romance that could melt even Scrooge’s heart!

It’s nearly Christmas, but Angel Green isn’t celebrating – she’s too busy studying for a scholarship exam. On top of that, she’s organising her school’s charity fundraising campaign to help a local hospice. Unfortunately, her fundraising partner is Caspar Johnson: handsome, creative and fun, but TOTALLY unreliable.

Thank goodness for her Secret Santa who keeps leaving her amazing presents, including an intriguing hand-made advent calendar! Angel is dying to find out who her secret admirer is . . .

Amy’s Thoughts

Well, I’ll start off by saying that Love, Secret Santa certainly put me in the festive mood! It was so cute and made me feel all fuzzy inside. Perfect for reading in the run up to Christmas! From the very first page I just found myself getting in the Christmas spirit and it was honestly wonderful.

The story itself, centres around Angel, a hardworking student studying for a scholarship exam and who is currently organising her school’s charity fundraiser, along with the handsome Caspar Johnson, who she was once friends with. In the midst of all this, Angel, soon starts receiving thoughtful gifts from a Secret Santa and in the midst of all her plans, she is eager to find out who her festive admirer is.

I loved this quick, easy to follow romance and I just found myself immersed in it. This was mainly down to me wanting to find out, alongside Angel who her Secret Santa was! The descriptions and details throughout the book just had you wanting Christmas to come sooner and I, honestly was all for it. To say it made me feel all warm and cosy would be an understatement.

The romance between Angel and Caspar was such a slow burn and I adored it! I’m not a big fan of insta love so to have this slow burning romance was just brilliant and I was rooting for them throughout. The romantic chemistry between them both was just so sweet and felt so natural and not at all forced for the plot.

One last thing I want to mention is how diverse the characters were within Love, Secret Santa. Almost every character was a person of colour and we even had some LGBT representation, which is always amazing to see in YA of all kinds. So kudos to the author for putting diversity into it.

Love, Secret Santa was an adorable, cute, light-hearted read that made me feel all christmassy. If you want a read that is full of joy and love, then this is the book for you.
