Six for Sunday is weekly prompt hosted by Steph at A Little But A Lot where we are encouraged to give our opinions on a certain topic or a book-related theme.
This is the first Six for Sunday of 2020 and it’s kicking off with us sharing our bookish resolutions for the year ahead. It’ll be great to be able to look back at these at the end of the year and see if I’ve achieved them.
What are your bookish resolutions for 2020?
1 . Read 110 books
I read 107 books in 2019 and my goal was to read 100. So I thought I would up it this year and try and read 110. If I achieve that is yet to be seen, but I am hopeful.
2 . DNF a book if I’m not enjoying it
2020 is the year where I only read books that I enjoy. If I’m reading a book and not enjoying it at all I will be DNF’ing it, no doubt about that. Life is too short to read a book you just aren’t getting on with.
3 . Use my local library more
I do use my local library, but this year I want to try and use it a lot more. I spend too much money on books, and I have a lot to save up for, so borrowing books from the library will save me money and I’ll be supporting something that is so valuable to the local community.
4 . Finish the first draft of my novel
At the end of 2019 I started writing my YA contemporary novel titled ‘Second Wind’. I am really passionate about it, so am hoping I can finish the first draft at least by the end of the year. Camp NaNoWriMo is coming up in April, so I’ll be taking part in that to help spur me on.
5 . Keep up to date with ARC’s and review copies
This was something I struggled with in 2019 and I am hoping to rectify that this year. I have made a spreadsheet of all the books I have to review and hopefully this will help me stay more organised with ARC’s.
6 . Get my Netgalley percentage up to 80%
This is similar to the previous resolution, but my Netgalley percentage is awful at the moment and I would love to get it up to 80% by the end of 2020. Fingers crossed.
