Six for Sunday is weekly prompt hosted by Steph at A Little But A Lot where we are encouraged to give our opinions on a certain topic or a book-related theme.
This is the last Six for Sunday of January and this week is all bookish habits we may have. Now, I have lots but I am just going to share with you my six main ones for today (maybe I’ll write a longer post about the others at some point).
What are your main bookish habits?
1. Spine Breaking
I know..it’s terrible, but I can’t help breaking the spines on books! It’s something that I have done for years and I see people around me cringe when I do it around them. I don’t want to do it..but I can’t stop.
2. Buying a Bookmark at every place I visit
Whenever I go out for the day and visit an attraction I always have to buy a bookmark no matter what. It’s a nice little souvenir for me and because of this I have built up a really good bookmark collection.
3. Borrowing books from the library and then not reading them
I like to go into my local library at least once a week for a browse and sometimes it is hard to leave without borrowing a book. I’ll pick up a book that looks and sounds interesting, take it home, put it somewhere and then forget about it until I get an email reminder saying it’s due in 3 days. It’s really not a good habit and it’s one I want to break.
4. Reading for at least 30 minutes before I go to bed
I tend to get the bulk of my reading done at night time – especially just before I go to sleep. It helps to relax me and clears my mind of everything that may have happened that day.
5. Listening to audiobooks around the house
I have just recently discovered audiobooks and I LOVE THEM! I tend to listen to them when I’m doing work around the house or getting ready in the mornings. They are a great way to get more reading done.
6. Requesting all the books on Netgalley and then wondering why my percentage is low
Oh Netgalley! I have often fallen down the netgalley rabbit hole and requested a huge amount of books. This leads to my percentage falling, and well, that’s not good. I am trying to calm my requesting on there and am working on getting my percentage back up. Fingers crossed!
