Six for Sunday is weekly prompt hosted by Steph at A Little But A Lot where we are encouraged to give our opinions on a certain topic or a book-related theme.
This week’s topic is ‘characters I’d like to be like’. However, I thought I’d mix things up and talk about characters I admire instead, more specifically female characters.
What female characters do you admire?
1. Luna Lovegood – Harry Potter Series
Luna was no doubt an oddball and an outcast and yes people did tease her behind her back. However, Luna didn’t care and she embraced her quirkiness and oddities and ended up become a real solid character that everyone could root for.
2. Inej Ghafa – Six of Crows Duology
Inej – what a badass character! I love her determined feisty spirit. She is unafraid to tell people her opinions and views and her strength is just incredible, both mentally and physically. I wish I was able to be more outspoken like Inej.
3. Emily Daly – No Big Deal
I love books featuring the topic of body positivity and you can’t get anyone more body positive than Emily from No Big Deal by Bethany Rutter. The way she embraces her body is just admirable and the fact that she doesn’t care is why she is a character I do look up to.
4. Harper – A Curse So Dark and Lonely
I’ve only recently read this, but oh boy has Harper stuck with me! Her character was just so fierce, and despite her having cerebral palsy she didn’t let that get in the way of her badass ways! She had me rooting for her throughout the book and that was mainly due to her loyalty and determinedness.
5. Matilda – Matlida
Matilda was probably the first character that I admired from a novel and she still has a special place in my heart. Firstly, she overcame her obstacles by reading books and that in itself is just amazing. Secondly, she did what she had to do to stand up for herself against those who tried to ruin her life, and thirdly, she has telekinetic powers!
6. Lil Potkin – Potkin & Stubbs
Lil fights for the good of Peligan City and that kind of spirit really resonates with me. The fact she never backs down and always works hard to uncover the truth is commendable. Also the fact she is a young reporter is just awesome, right?

I love Luna!! One of my favorite Harry Potter characters. ❤
