Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. The topic for this week is ‘signs you’re a book lover’, which lets be honest if you are reading this you are.
I have decided to play about with the topic and am going to talk about the 10 signs that prove I am obsessed with books.
What are the signs that prove you are a bookworm?
1. I have an ever-growing TBR that can’t be controlled
Yup this is true. I must have about 200 – 300 books on my TBR that I just haven’t got around to reading yet. This doesn’t stop me from buying more books to add to it though. I need help!
2. My job
I am a Primary School Librarian and have been for over a year now. I got the job mainly due to my passion for children’s literature and the ideas that I had to help get children into reading. I go in everyday with a smile on my face knowing that I can bring joy to a child by helping them pick the perfect book to read.
3. I’m a book blogger/bookstagrammer
I have been a book blogger since January 2016 and have been on bookstagram since September 2017, but am only just making the effort with my feed. I made my book blog to spread the joy of reading and to also share my views about books I have read. I love being a book blogger and I am so grateful to all the friends and contacts I have made through doing it.
4. I smell new books
Who doesn’t love that new book smell? Whenever I get a new book I always have to give it a sniff! If someone made a perfume of it I would wear it!
5. I visit my local library a few times a week
I have to pass my local library on my way home from work, so I just have to go in and have a browse. I could spend hours browsing the shelves and I just feel at home there! I even do book reviews for Suffolk Libraries website, which in turn has gotten me contacts within the library.
6. I have a vast collection of bookmarks
I have made this deal with myself that I will buy a bookmark whenever I visit a place, and I have stuck to it! I have a box dedicated to all the bookmarks I have acquired over the years and sometimes it is hard to choose what one to use!
7. I become obsessed with fictional characters
When I’ve read a book that blew me away I do tend to become obsessed with it, especially the characters and this turns into me only talking about them. Most recently it has happened with A Curse So Dark and Lonely. Team Grey anyone?
8. Bookish merch
I have accumulated quite a bit of bookish merch recently, especially candles and pin badges. It’s becoming a bit of an obsession really..
9. I attend as many book events as I can
I love going to book events such as YALC, CHCCYA Fest and author signings/talks and try to get to as many as I can. To be able to listen to or go to a workshop with your favourite author is just incredible and to be able to meet them and speak to them is a pleasure. Most recently I attended the launch of Potkin and Stubbs:Ghostcatcher by Sophie Green
10. The staff in my local Waterstones know me by name
Yup, this is true. I attend a YA book club at my local Waterstones, and I also go in there a few times a week, for yet again, a browse. It’s got to the point where most of the staff know who I am and always stop to have a chat and give me book recommendations.

What a wonderful job. You definitely have the bug. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/03/ttt-033120.html

Nice list! I’m getting a degree in hopes of working in an elementary school library soon, and having an out of control TBR pike is definitely a good sign of book obsession! 😜

Why do we all own so many bookmarks? It’s crazy really, we don’t need that many, but I have tons!

How fun that you’re a librarian! I’m still kicking myself for not studying library science in school. The college I went to had just gotten rid of the program when I started. Bummer. It would have been a fun field of study.
Happy TTT!

I definitely fit 9/10 of these as I don’t often go to the library, and I’d hope 10 applies to me seeing as I work in my local Waterstones 😉
