It’s that time again! Time for Believathon!
Believathon is a twice yearly readathon hosted by the wonderful Gavin from How To Train Your Gavin and is a readathon celebrating children’s books from picture books all the way up to middle grade. I first took part in Believathon II back in May and absolutely loved it! As someone who is a big advocate for children’s literature I am in awe of what Gavin has achieved with this readathon and I salute him.
Believathon III is taking place from 1st – 30th November and is all about the Mystery of the Missing Maleficarum. As always there are prompts for you to follow, and for this one you have to try and collect 13 clues from 13 reading prompts. You can double up on prompts though, if you don’t think you can read 13 books in November (I’m doubling up for some!).
Anyway, without further ado, here’s my Believathon III TBR…
Believathon III TBR
The Key – Read a Mystery
For this first prompt I am reading High Rise Mystery by Sharna Jackson. I have heard incredible things about this book and after it winning the Best Book for Younger Readers in the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2020, I am incredibly hyped!
The Fingerprints – read a book written by an author from a different culture as you.
I am reading The Girl Who Stole and Elephant by Nizrana Farook. This has been on my TBR for a while now and it sounds like it’s going to be an amazing adventure that I can’t wait to get stuck into.
The Scream – listen to an audiobook or read a book out loud
To get the scream I am going to be listening to The Vanishing Trick by Jenni Spangler. I have already borrowed it from my local library and I am hoping to listen to it on my way to and from work. I don’t listen to many audiobooks either, so this will be something different for me.
The Torn Page – read a book with a supernatural element
This is my first prompt double up! And I am reading The Vanishing Trick for this prompt, too. This book sounds so creepy and eerie and I for one, am all for that!
The Crown – read a book set in another world
I cannot wait to get stuck into Wundersmith! I read Nevermoor last month and was hooked on it, and had to get the sequel straight away. I need to know the next parts of Morrigan’s story!
The Spilled Ink – read a book that features ghosts
City of Ghosts will be first foray into Victoria Schwab’s work and I am rather excited after hearing incredible things about it. It does sound like a rather creepy read, and I do love a spooky tale.
The Dagger – read a book with a dangerous setting
My next double up! I will be reading The Girl Who Stole an Elephant to get the dagger. From what I can grasp from the book’s synopsis there is some elements of danger involved.
The Backpack – read a book by a new-to-you author
I have been meaning to read The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates ever since it was released, and Jenny Pearson is an author who is new to me! This book sounds like it’s going to have me laughing…lots.
The Footprints – read a book that features a prominent villain
Another double up! To get the footprints I am reading Wundersmith. Obviously this book will have the same villain as the first book did and I am looking forward to seeing how their journey progresses.
The Hand Mirror – read a book with a beautiful cover
The cover for The Girl Who Speaks Bear is just stunning, isn’t it? This is also the only book by Sophie Anderson I haven’t read yet, so I’m looking forward to it.
The Chain – read a book that features a colourful cast of friends
I have been dying to read this book for so long, and actually picked it up after hearing Gavin gush about it. I am really hyped up for it, and hope I end up loving it.
The Flash of Lightning – read a book that incorporates folktales
I am reading The Girl Who Speaks Bear for this prompt. Sophie Anderson’s books always incorporate folklore and folktales into their plots and this one will be no different.
The Shadow – read a book that was first published in 2020
The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates was published in 2020, meaning that Jenny Pearson isn’t just a new-to-me author but also a debut author!
So, that’s my Believathon III TBR! Are you taking part this year? or have you read any of the books listed?
